Why I should prefer running over hiking

Running is better than hiking

Author: Steffi

Following up on my blog post “Why I prefer hiking over running“, here is “Why I should prefer running over hiking”:

a) You burn definitely more calories if you run the same time you would hike.
b) You see more from the area because you cover a longer distance.
c) You can do it after work. Or before work. Try that with a 20k walk.
d) You heat up faster. That means –>
e) You need less cloths. (I’m particularly thinking of autumn/winter seasons.)
f) It’s the perfect way to channel happiness and aggression. The best way to kick someone’s ass is to kick your own one.

What do you like about running?

The last thought will be why hiking is as good or as bad as running.

I absolutely agree on the matter of time. Intense exercise in a short period of time. But I don’t like running too much. Just for the alibi to do at least some exercise during the week and listening to good music. I do prefer hiking as well. 🙂

I am a runner and a hiker. Running is a great way to get outside for a short period of time and get some exercise in, but nothing is better than hiking. Hiking makes me feel connected to and enveloped by nature in a way that I can’t when I’m focused on running more/faster/etc. Perhaps you should combine your love for hiking and running by trail running?
